Same-origin JavaScript execution via trusted pasted attributes
Published Jan 9, 2025 · Updated Jan 9, 2025
DOM XSS in Rails rails-ujs 5.1.0 through 6.1.7.2 and 7.0.0 through 7.0.4.2 allows attackers to run JavaScript via pasted HTML. Delegated method, remote, and disable handlers trust matching data attributes on pasted descendants of contenteditable elements instead of excluding editable content. A user must paste attacker-supplied HTML into a contenteditable element and then activate it, enabling script execution in the application's origin.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
