Arbitrary plugin activation via missing nonce validation
Published Apr 6, 2023 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in HasThemes Really Simple Google Tag Manager 1.0.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to activate arbitrary plugins. The plugin_activation() function accepts a state-changing request without validating a WordPress nonce before activating the requested plugin. Exploitation requires an administrator to follow a crafted link, after which a remote attacker can activate an installed plugin but gains no reported ability to install new code.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
