CVE-2023-23783

Authenticated code execution via CLI format string

Published Feb 16, 2023 · Updated Oct 23, 2024

Format-string injection in Fortinet FortiWeb 6.4.0 through 6.4.2 and 7.0.0 through 7.0.1 allows local users to execute code or commands. The command-line interpreter uses attacker-controlled command arguments as a format string; Fortinet has not identified the affected command or function. Access requires a highly privileged authenticated CLI account, and successful exploitation grants arbitrary command execution on the appliance.
