CVE-2023-23774

Physical arbitrary code execution via serial prompt

Published Aug 29, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

An uncaught exception in the site controller of Motorola EBTS/MBTS Base Radio R05.x2.57 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code. The site controller exposes a debug prompt on the device's serial port instead of containing the unhandled exception. Physical access and the ability to trigger an exception are required; the prompt exposes secret key material and grants arbitrary code execution.
