Local MMI access via hard-coded backdoor password
Published Aug 29, 2023 · Updated Oct 2, 2024
Authentication bypass in Motorola MBTS Base Radio R05.x2.57 allows local users to access its MMI with a hard-coded password. The MMI accepts a built-in backdoor password that cannot be changed or disabled, bypassing normal credential control for diagnostic and configuration functions. Local access to the base radio is required, after which the exposed service functions permit unauthorized device diagnosis and configuration.
