Remote code execution via generic invocation deserialization
Published Mar 8, 2023 · Updated Oct 23, 2024
Deserialization in Apache Dubbo 2.7.21 and earlier, 3.0.13 and earlier, and 3.1.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code. The generic-invocation path deserializes attacker-controlled call data; Apache has not identified the responsible function or disclosed the bypass. A reachable Dubbo service that accepts generic invocation is the gate, and successful exploitation runs code in the service process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=Apache Dubbo 2.7.x <=2.7.21
- Affected versionversion=Apache Dubbo 3.0.x <=3.0.13
