Cross-site scripting via noscript parsing mismatch
Published Jan 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Ryan Grove Sanitize 5.0.0 through 6.0.0 allows attackers to inject arbitrary HTML via crafted input. Nokogiri parses allowlisted noscript contents with scripting disabled, while browsers reinterpret the same markup with scripting enabled. Exploitation requires a custom allowlist containing noscript and user interaction to render the sanitized output; default configurations are not exposed.
