CVE-2023-23600Network attack vector

Cross-context notifications via unscoped permission storage

Published Jun 2, 2023 · Updated Dec 18, 2025

Permission isolation failure in Mozilla Firefox for Android before 109 allows remote attackers to display notifications across browsing contexts. Fenix stored each origin's notification decision in Gecko storage without associating it with the Normal or Private Browsing context that granted it. An origin permitted in one context therefore retained permission in another session, exposing activity from contexts whose state should have been discarded.
