Mailbox access via protocol-specific two-step bypass
Published Jan 13, 2023 · Updated Apr 7, 2025
Authentication bypass in Axigen Mail Server 10.3.3.52 allows remote attackers to access a mailbox through IMAP or POP3 without a verification code. The server applies the one-time-code check to WebMail logins but accepts primary mailbox credentials over IMAP and POP3 without enforcing that second step. Exploitation requires valid mailbox credentials and an account with two-step verification enabled, exposing mailbox contents rather than bypassing the primary password.
