CVE-2023-23558Public exploit

Local telemetry disclosure and tampering via fixed paths

Published Feb 16, 2023 · Updated Mar 19, 2025

Improper link resolution in Eternal Terminal 6.2.1 allows local users to read or modify TelemetryService data through a pre-created /tmp directory. TelemetryService accepts an existing /tmp/.sentry-native-etserver directory without validating its ownership or mode, then creates UUID-named run data beneath attacker-controlled storage. Exploitation requires creating the mode-0777 directory before etserver starts and winning the nested-directory race, exposing or corrupting telemetry data without interrupting service.
