System file overwrite via improper signature verification
Published Dec 29, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper signature verification in HONOR MagicOS 7.0 before 7.1.0.100 allows local users to overwrite valid system files. The signature-management component accepts a forged system file as valid and permits it to replace the legitimate file; HONOR has not disclosed the responsible routine or validation error. Local access is required; the established consequence is replacement of a valid system file, while downstream behavior remains undisclosed.
