CVE-2023-23433

System-file overwrite via improper signature verification

Published Dec 29, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper signature verification in HONOR 50 firmware 7.0.0.138 allows local users to replace a legitimate system file with a forged file. The signature-management path treats a forged system file as correctly signed and overwrites the legitimate file instead of rejecting it. Local access is required; HONOR has not disclosed the exact component, entry path, or further consequences beyond replacement of the system file.
