Backup disclosure via predictable unauthenticated web paths
Published Mar 10, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Information disclosure in AvantFAX 3.3.7 allows remote attackers to read fax archives and database backups over HTTP. admin/system_func.php generates date-based archive and schema filenames in /avantfax/tmp, which the web server exposes without access controls. An administrator must first create a backup, but retrieval requires neither authentication nor user interaction and discloses fax content, account data, and MD5 password hashes.
