Administrator session hijacking via stored email script
Published Mar 10, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Stored XSS in AvantFAX 3.3.7 allows remote authenticated users to hijack an administrator session through a saved email address. The user profile accepts an email address containing a script, stores it without effective output neutralization, and executes it when the /admin dashboard renders. Low-privilege access is required to save the payload, and an administrator must load the dashboard; the script can transmit the administrator's session cookie.
