Sensor-history disclosure via forged application version
Published May 23, 2023 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Incorrect authorization in GarminOS CIQ API 2.1.0 through 4.1.7 allows attackers to read private sensor history via a crafted application. The TVM permission routine automatically authorizes Toybox.SensorHistory when the application header claims a version below 2.3.0, even if the permission section omits that module. Execution of the crafted application on a compatible Garmin device is required, after which its code can call any SensorHistory function and read records without user consent.
