Root command execution via file_name injection
Published Feb 23, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2025
Command injection in Korenix JetWave 4200 Series 1.3.0 and 3000 Series 1.6.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The firmware places the attacker-controlled file_name parameter into a root-privileged system command without neutralizing shell metacharacters. A low-privileged management account and network access are required; successful exploitation grants root-level command execution on the device.
