Browser script execution via HTML raw-snippet responses
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025
Stored XSS in Snippet-box 1.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute script in a viewer's browser through crafted snippet content. The raw-snippet route labels saved snippet code as text/html, causing browsers to interpret attacker-controlled markup and JavaScript as active content. Creating the payload requires no authentication, but execution requires a viewer to open its raw URL; the script then runs within the application's origin.
