Sandbox escape via cross-realm magic-comment objects
Published May 17, 2023 · Updated Jan 22, 2025
Sandbox escape in Red Hat PCS 0.11.4-6.el9 allows remote attackers to access the Node.js global object through crafted Webpack magic comments. JavascriptParser evaluates magic-comment option objects in a VM context and copies them directly into host options, preserving cross-realm references. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled content to reach the magic-comment parser; the retained reference exposes the host Node.js global object.
