CVE-2023-2317Public exploit

Code execution via unsanitized updater labels

Published Aug 19, 2023 · Updated Oct 7, 2024

DOM-based XSS in Typora before 1.6.7 on Windows and Linux allows attackers to execute system commands through crafted Markdown. updater/updater.html parses attacker-controlled labels from the URL query and assigns them to data-label elements with innerHTML; same-origin embedding exposes the main window reqnode interface. Exploitation requires opening a malicious Markdown file or pasting attacker-controlled web content, after which child_process runs commands with the user's privileges.
