Arbitrary file truncation via unsanitized log filename
Published Sep 26, 2023 · Updated Sep 24, 2024
Path traversal in OpenCart 4.0.0.0 through 4.0.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to empty writable server files via the Log component. The tool/log clear action appends the unsanitized filename query value to DIR_LOGS and opens the resolved file with fopen mode w+, truncating it. Backend access and modify permissions for tool/log are required; existing writable files can be emptied, including core files that stop the storefront.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
