Process crash via unchecked bit-count shift
Published Jan 20, 2023 · Updated Apr 3, 2025
Integer overflow in GPAC 2.2-rev0-gab012bbfb-master allows local users to crash MP4Box by processing a crafted ISO file. Q_DecCoordOnUnitSphere uses the bitstream-derived NbBits value as a 32-bit shift exponent without first rejecting values above 32. Exploitation requires the crafted file to be processed and interrupts only the affected process, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
