Unauthenticated file disclosure via unrestricted PATH parameter
Published Feb 22, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in Cellinx NVT 1.0.6.002b allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through GetFileContent.cgi. The CGI handler uses the attacker-controlled PATH query parameter to select a local file without restricting the pathname to an authorized directory. No prior authentication or user interaction is required, and successful requests disclose file contents without changing data or interrupting service.
