CVE-2023-23059Public exploit

Privilege escalation via modifiable installation files

Published May 4, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Incorrect default permissions in GeoVision GV-Edge Recording Manager 2.2.3.0 allow attackers to execute code with elevated privileges. The default installation assigns permissions that permit installed files to be modified, redirecting trusted execution to attacker-controlled code. Exploitation requires access sufficient to alter those files, and successful execution inherits the privileges of the process that loads the replaced content.
