CVE-2023-22970

Code execution via unsafe YAML loading

Published May 26, 2023 · Updated Jan 15, 2025

Unsafe YAML loading in Bottles 50.2 and earlier allows attackers to execute code through a crafted archive, recipe, or repository file. The affected loader deserializes attacker-controlled YAML from bottle archives, custom recipes, and local or mirrored repositories without treating the content as untrusted. Exploitation requires a user to process a malicious file or an attacker to control a repository mirror; Flatpak sandboxing limits the resulting code's reach.
