CVE-2023-22955Public exploit

Persistent root access via forgeable firmware checksums

Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024

Improper firmware verification in AudioCodes IP Phones before 3.4.4.1000 allows local users to install malicious firmware images. The flasher accepts additive per-section checksums at offset 0x50 instead of cryptographic signatures, so altered rootfs.ext4 content passes validation. Access sufficient to provide an update image is required; installed code can persist with root privileges on the phone.
