CVE-2023-22943Network attack vector

Data exposure and tampering via HTTPS fail-open

Published Feb 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025

Improper fail-open behavior in Splunk AoB before 4.1.2 and CloudConnect SDK before 3.1.3 lets remote attackers alter API traffic. The cloudconnectlib REST API Modular Input retries a third-party HTTPS request over unencrypted HTTP after certificate validation fails. Exploitation requires an affected modular input to make such a request and an attacker able to observe or modify the fallback connection; confidentiality and integrity, not availability, are exposed.
