Improper input validation in Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud Platform allows remote authenticated users to upload unsupported file types. The Splunk Web lookup upload handler accepts filenames without restricting extensions to supported lookup formats, permitting unnecessary file types to be stored. Exploitation requires a role with upload_lookup_files; Splunk reports limited integrity impact and no confidentiality or availability impact.
