Improper input validation in Splunk Web allows remote attackers to bypass risky-command safeguards in Splunk Enterprise and Cloud Platform. Splunk Web honors the client-supplied display.page.search.patterns.sensitivity parameter while screening a search, so a crafted value suppresses warnings for risky SPL commands. A higher-privileged user must initiate the request in a browser with Splunk Web enabled; resulting commands can copy, delete, or overwrite data.
