CVE-2023-22934Network attack vector

Risky-command safeguard bypass via crafted pivot search

Published Feb 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025

Improper input validation in Splunk Enterprise and Cloud Platform allows remote authenticated users to bypass risky-command safeguards. The pivot command processes a crafted saved search job without applying the safeguards that normally restrict risky SPL commands. Exploitation requires Splunk Web, a user able to craft the job, and a higher-privileged user who initiates the browser request, exposing or modifying data.
