Unauthenticated root access via default Telnet service
Published Jul 3, 2023 · Updated Nov 25, 2024
Missing authentication in Hero Electronix Qubo HCD01 and HCD02 firmware 1.38_20220125 allows remote attackers to obtain root access via Telnet. The embedded Telnet service starts by default and opens a root shell without requesting a password. An attacker must reach TCP port 23 on the device's local network; successful access permits arbitrary commands with root privileges and exposes stored data and device controls.
