CVE-2023-22886Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via unrestricted JDBC drivers

Published Jun 29, 2023 · Updated Oct 7, 2024

Improper input validation in Apache Airflow JDBC Provider before 4.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through JDBC parameters. JdbcHook.get_conn reads driver_path and driver_class from connection extras and passes them to jaydebeapi.connect, which loads the specified JAR and Java class without restrictions. An Airflow user able to edit connections and cause the hook to open one can run code with the Airflow server's permissions; no unauthenticated path is reported.
