CVE-2023-22819Network attack vector

Service restart via crafted memory-exhaustion requests

Published Feb 5, 2024 · Updated Sep 5, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Western Digital storage appliances and SanDisk ibi allows attackers with root access to restart a service. On the PR4100 appliance, a RESTSDK endpoint processes crafted requests without limiting memory consumption; Western Digital does not name the corresponding endpoint on remaining devices. Exploitation requires existing root privileges and interrupts only the targeted service; confidentiality and integrity impacts are not reported.
