CVE-2023-22818

Local code execution via untrusted DLL loading

Published Nov 15, 2023 · Updated Aug 29, 2024

DLL search-order hijacking in SanDisk Security Installer for Windows before 1.0.0.25 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. The installer searches its launch directory for multiple DLLs and loads an attacker-placed library without restricting resolution to trusted paths. Execution requires local access and user interaction to run the installer beside the malicious DLL, granting the installer's privileges and persistence.
