CVE-2023-22816Network attack vector

Authenticated command execution via CGI file redirects

Published Jun 30, 2023 · Updated Sep 9, 2024

OS command injection in Western Digital NAS firmware before 5.26.300 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through a CGI file. The affected CGI handler passes attacker-controlled command syntax to a shell, allowing redirects to build files for subsequent execution. A high-privilege authenticated session and user interaction are required; exploitation executes attacker-supplied payloads on the appliance.
