Unauthorized access via shared default session secret
Published Feb 3, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Authentication forgery in CKAN Docker images before 2.8.12 and 2.9.0 through 2.9.6 allows remote attackers to gain unauthorized access. Affected image entrypoints reuse a published default session secret instead of generating a distinct value for each container. Exposure requires an affected image started without a custom secret in its .env file; legacy ckan/ckan images are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
