Arbitrary file writes via unsanitized CLI path
Published Apr 26, 2023 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Path traversal in Rapid7 Insight Agent 3.2.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files through crafted CLI arguments. The token handler passes an unsanitized CLI argument to io.ioutil.WriteFile as a filesystem path, permitting traversal outside the intended directory. The affected handler runs on Linux and macOS, and the consequence is limited to attacker-directed file writes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
