CVE-2023-22729Network attack vector

Open redirect via mixed-slash URL validation

Published Apr 26, 2023 · Updated Jan 31, 2025

Open redirect in Silverstripe Framework before 4.12.5 allows remote attackers to place an external link on the CMS relogin screen. Director::is_absolute_url treats URLs beginning with mixed forward and backslashes as relative, so CMSSecurity accepts them as same-site return targets. A legitimate content author must follow a crafted link and then select the displayed link, which sends the browser to an attacker-chosen site.
