CVE-2023-2270

SYSTEM code execution via relative extraction path

Published Jun 15, 2023 · Updated Aug 28, 2024

Path traversal in Netskope Client for Windows 99 and earlier allows local users to execute code with NT\SYSTEM privileges. The localhost service's connection handler uses a relative path while downloading and extracting configuration files, allowing attacker-controlled paths to write arbitrary files into privileged locations. Any local low-privileged user able to connect to the service can turn that privileged file write into SYSTEM-level code execution.
