Protection failure in Intel Xeon processors using SGX or TDX allows local privileged users to escalate privileges through malicious firmware. BIOS or SMM firmware can misconfigure critical system registers outside the trusted computing base, exposing or corrupting confidential-computing data. Exploitation requires high local privileges and an SGX- or TDX-enabled platform, with no reported availability impact.
