CVE-2023-22649

Credential disclosure via incomplete audit-log redaction

Published Oct 16, 2024 · Updated Oct 16, 2024

Sensitive-data logging in SUSE Rancher 2.6.0 through 2.8.1 allows local users to read credentials from enabled API audit logs. At audit level 1 or higher, the audit middleware records designated authentication headers and, at higher levels, secret-bearing request or response bodies without complete redaction. Exposure requires the opt-in audit feature and access to local or externally shipped logs; leaked credentials grant only the permissions assigned to them.
