SMRAM corruption via unchecked RCX address
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in IhisiServicesSmm in Insyde InsydeH2O kernel 5.0 through 5.5 allows local users to corrupt SMRAM. The handler accepts an RCX save-state address that can overlap SMRAM and performs the subfunction write through that unchecked pointer. Low-privilege local access and high attack complexity are required; Insyde does not further characterize the resulting availability effect.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
