CVE-2023-2254Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped Button Text setting

Published Aug 16, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Stored XSS in Ko-fi Button before 1.3.3 allows remote authenticated users with administrator privileges to execute scripts via plugin settings. The settings handler stores a crafted Button Text value without sufficient sanitization, and shortcode output renders that value without adequate escaping. Exploitation requires administrator-level access and a multisite installation or another configuration that disables unfiltered_html; scripts run when a visitor opens a page containing the [kofi] shortcode.
