Streaming authentication bypass via machine GUID reuse
Published Jan 14, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Improper authentication in Netdata Agent before 1.37 allows remote attackers to impersonate streaming children using a valid machine GUID. The streaming receiver accepts a child MACHINE GUID in the API-key field instead of requiring the separately configured streaming key. Exploitation requires child and parent Agents to be exposed to untrusted users, permitting unauthorized metric injection or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
