CVE-2023-22482Network attack vector

Unauthorized API access via unchecked JWT audience

Published Jan 25, 2023 · Updated Mar 11, 2025

Improper authorization in affected Argo CD releases allows remote attackers to access its API with wrong-audience OIDC tokens. The API verifies the token signature against the configured OIDC provider but omits the aud claim check, then derives privileges from groups meant for another service. Exploitation requires a provider serving multiple audiences and possession of a token for another audience; accepted group claims grant unauthorized API privileges.
