CVE-2023-22468Network attack vector

Stored XSS via crafted local-onebox URLs

Published Jan 26, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025

Stored XSS in affected Discourse branches allows remote attackers to execute browser code through a crafted local-onebox URL. The local-onebox path accepts the URL from a post and produces stored markup that a viewer's browser can interpret as executable content. The URL must appear in a viewed post on a site with disabled or overly permissive CSP; the default CSP prevents execution.
