CVE-2023-22414

FPC crash via unreleased multicast packet memory

Published Jan 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 7, 2025

Memory leak in the FPC of Junos OS on PTX and QFX10000 systems allows remote attackers to crash it through crafted multicast packets. The FPC packet-processing path fails to release heap memory after processing specific EVPN VXLAN multicast packets, causing usage to grow until the FPC crashes. Exploitation requires multicast and EVPN configuration and access to the same shared physical or logical network; the consequence is an FPC service interrupt.
