CVE-2023-22410

Service interruption via SCFD traffic memory leak

Published Jan 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 7, 2025

Memory exhaustion in Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series with MPC10/MPC11 allows attackers to interrupt all services via specific traffic. With SCFD enabled, processing that traffic dynamically allocates AftDdosScfdFlow memory without releasing it, even after SCFD is deactivated. Sustained traffic exhausts FPC memory and leaves every service unavailable until a manual restart; only affected MX devices with MPC10/MPC11 cards and SCFD enabled are exposed.
