CVE-2023-2241Public exploit

Heap-buffer overread via unchecked XRef entry count

Published Apr 22, 2023 · Updated Feb 4, 2025

Heap-buffer overread in PoDoFo 0.10.0 allows local users to read beyond an XRef stream buffer through a crafted PDF file. parseStream trusts the PDF /Index count and calls readXRefStreamEntry while less than a complete fixed-width entry remains in the buffer. Exploitation requires a local user to make a PoDoFo-linked application parse the file; the demonstrated result is an AddressSanitizer-detected overread, not code execution.
