CVE-2023-22404Network attack vector

Authenticated iked crash via malformed IKE payload

Published Jan 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 7, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX and SPC3-equipped MX devices allows remote authenticated users to crash iked. During authenticated IKE negotiation, iked processes a specifically formatted peer payload and writes outside its intended buffer; Juniper has not disclosed the affected parser or faulty bounds operation. IPsec VPN must be configured and peer authentication must succeed; one payload restarts iked and disrupts concurrent negotiations, while repeated payloads prevent all IKE negotiations.
