FPC reboot via GUID resource exhaustion
Published Jan 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 7, 2025
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to crash and reboot an FPC through an SNMP GET operation. A specific SNMP GET or CLI operation makes the evo-pfemand PFE management daemon allocate GUIDs without releasing them until the GUID space is exhausted. No authentication or user interaction is required for the network path; exhaustion crashes and reboots the FPC, interrupting forwarding without reported confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
